CHAMBER ENSEMBLES

ANIME STRING QUARTET

The Anime Quartet once again showed its superb abilities in performing contemporary music – Mateja Stevanović, Radio Belgrade

The Anime String Quartet gave its first series of full-length concerts in various Serbian cities in 2014. In 2016 they gave the world premiere of Ian Wilson’s String Quartet no. 16, “Aus der Zauberküche” (from the magical kitchen) which was written specially for, and dedicated to, the Anime Quartet. A recording of the same piece was broadcast on Ireland’s classical music radio station “RTÉ Lyric fm” and many other concert performances were broadcast by RTS, Serbia’s national radio station. ASQ took part in the 2024 Belgrade Irish Festival performing works by Ian Wilson in his 60th birthday portrait concert.

Anime Violin Trio

Their interpretation is interwoven with a distinctly balanced tone, warm sound, refined feeling for phrasing, measured expressiveness, careful dynamics and inherent comprehension of the ensemble parts. The overall tone shows the perfect harmony of the trio members – Tisa Jukić, Radio Belgrade.

The Anime Violin Trio was formed by members of the Anime String Quartet in 2018 and was established with the support of SOKOJ, the Organization of Music Authors of Serbia, to independently realize the CD project “Refleksija” (reflection). The project included the promotion of Serbian and Irish art music for solo violin and the unusual chamber grouping of violin trio. At three Belgrade concerts held in 2019 in the Kolarac Foundation, the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Italian Institute (in cooperation with the Cultural Center of Belgrade and the Association of Serbian Artists), violinists Dušica Mladenović, Mina Mladenović and Marina Popović performed works from their CD “Refleksija” which features music by the senior Serbian composer Dejan Despić and the renowned Irish composer Ian Wilson. The CD was released in 2019 on the Metropolis label (Serbia).
In 2019 the Anime Trio undertook a successful tour of Ireland with a programme based around the music of their “Refleksija” album; they followed that with a tour of Serbia in 2022 and a concert in Beijing in 2023 in the Serbian Cultural Centre with support of the Serbian Ministry of Culture.
